Downtown Bellevue Prepares for Building Boom

city of bellevue logoThe City of Bellevue is hiring more building permit officials in response to the ongoing construction boom downtown.

With the new hires, the City of Bellevue’s Development Services Department will consist of about 100 employees, the same level reached during the peak of the 2008 building boom, according our news partner The Seattle Times. The new positions are being funded through fees paid by developers.

While construction crews erect the Soma Towers apartments and a new Marriott Hotel downtown, developers are already planning for additional apartments at the corner of Main Street and Bellevue Way Southeast.

Kemper Development’s two high-rise proposals for Lincoln Square and Bellevue Square are currently in the permit process.
