According to City of Bellevue public records, electric vehicle company, Rivian, will be opening a showroom within Bellevue Square. Reztark Design Services applied for preapplication services at 1001 Bellevue Square.
The Bellevue Square storefront will act as a retail hub for Rivian’s electric vehicles. The space’s purpose is to increase visibility and interest in the brand through educational displays and static interior vehicle displays, as stated in the land use application.
With all of Rivian’s sales occurring online, the company wants to create an ecosystem of spaces where customers can learn about the brand and products in-person. The store will create brand awareness, education and engagement.
The propose usage of this space includes the interior showroom and areas designed for office, back of house support programs and a restroom. The showroom will host a static vehicle display, trip planning, and retail sales of Rivian-branded merchandise.
No vehicles can be purchased directly on-site and there will not be test drives at this location. Each Rivian is custom built and shipped from their factory in Illinois to a Rivian Service Center.
Rivian currently has a vehicle service center located in Bellevue on 116th Avenue Northeast. They also have a warehouse located near Tukwila that is 97,925 square feet.
The location at Bellevue Square that Rivian plans to move into is currently home to The North Face store. We reached out to a manager at the Bellevue North Face location, who was not aware of any plans to close or move to a different spot within The Bellevue Collection. He did say that he was aware of a “remodel of the store that is planned for the future.”
