Uber Technologies Inc. may be planning a significant expansion in the Puget Sound region, with a potential new lease of up to 150,000 square feet, according to a report from the Puget Sound Business Journal, which cited four commercial real estate professionals familiar with the discussions.

The ride-sharing company, which is based in San Francisco, is said to be considering multiple properties in Bellevue’s Central Business District, though Seattle locations remain under consideration as well. If finalized, such a lease would mark a major addition to Bellevue’s downtown commercial core.

Currently, Uber occupies around 115,000 square feet in the Second + Seneca building in downtown Seattle under a long-term lease that began in 2019. According to the report, the company has no plans to leave that location in the near future, indicating that any Bellevue lease would be part of a broader expansion strategy.

The sources noted that Uber has shown interest in properties such as City Center Plaza and Four106 in Bellevue and may begin formal tours soon. One individual told PSBJ that Uber has sent counteroffers to multiple buildings in Bellevue’s business district as well as to Meta’s available sublease in the Spring District.

Though still early in the process, the company may ultimately choose to secure 120,000 to 150,000 square feet on the Eastside, with some employees potentially relocating from Seattle to Bellevue closer to the 2029 expiration of the Second + Seneca lease.

Uber is represented in its search by commercial real estate firm CBRE.
