Luxury retailer David Lawrence will close its store at The Shops at The Bravern on April 15, 2026, marking the end of more than three decades of business in Bellevue.
The company announced the closure as part of the owners’ retirement. A closing sale is currently underway at the store, offering 50% off or more on designer apparel and accessories. Store fixtures, displays, and supplies are also being sold.
The Bellevue-based retailer is marking 32 years in business in Bellevue. Information about the closure was shared by Diana Blackham, vice president of David Lawrence, Inc.
David Lawrence first opened a Bellevue store in 1994 at Bellevue Square. The company launched its Bellevue location that year and opened a second store in downtown Seattle in 1995.
The brand became known for its fashion-forward style and selection of designer apparel and accessories. Its product offerings have included shoes, jewelry, T-shirts, dresses, sport coats, dress shirts, and other luxury fashion items.
After operating at Bellevue Square for more than a decade, David Lawrence left the shopping center at the end of 2009. The retailer moved to The Shops at The Bravern, opening its new location in March 2010 when the outdoor luxury shopping center was newly established and approximately 85% occupied. The center is known for its collection of high-end retailers and brands.
The move from Bellevue Square to The Bravern was made because the store owner believed the neighboring retailers and overall concept of the luxury shopping center aligned with the brands carried by David Lawrence, as well as the foot traffic generated by other upscale stores.
The luxury retailer was founded by David Lawrence, who earned a degree in fashion merchandising from Brigham Young University. Before opening his own store, he worked his way up from salesman to buyer at the men’s specialty retailer Jeffrey Michael, which focused on European tailored clothing and sportswear.
In 1993, Jeffrey Michael converted its eight stores into a mono-brand concept called Logan Drive. Around that time, Lawrence used his retail experience and industry contacts to launch his own store at Bellevue Square. Logan Drive closed after about six months, while David Lawrence continued to grow.
A second location opened in downtown Seattle, and in 2004, women’s products were added to the Bellevue Square store. Both the Bellevue Square and Seattle locations closed around the time David Lawrence relocated to The Shops at The Bravern.
The Bellevue boutique has operated at The Shops at The Bravern for 17 years, becoming part of the center’s collection of luxury retailers.
