Beginning August 1st, those in Bellevue will be able to request a free 100% electric shuttle, BellHop, through an app. The electric ride travels within the downtown area and to other nearby city attractions.
Offered in partnership with Visit Bellevue and Circuit, BellHop will cover an approximate four-mile radius from Meydenbauer Bay to Northeast 12th Street. This includes the Spring District, Bellevue Botanical Garden, Wilburton, and south to the Mercer Slough access.
According to Circuit’s website, the goal of the on-demand and free shuttle service is to make navigating Downtown Bellevue easier, greener, and more affordable. To use the service, users need download the Circuit app, request a ride, and within minutes, the sustainable shuttle will arrive.
BellHop is a pilot program that will run through December 31st, according to Visit Bellevue’s Executive Director, Brad Jones.
The electric vehicles will be available 12 hours per day, every day. This includes Sunday through Thursday from 9am to 9pm, and Friday through Saturday from 10am to 10pm. There will be eight vehicles to serve riders within eight minutes or less, according to an article by 425 Business.
The shuttles follow individual state car seat and child passenger laws. Pets are not allowed on seats and must remain on your lap or on the floor between your legs at all times.
