Milk Bar, the dessert bakery known for its innovative sweets, officially closed its location at Bellevue Square’s Nordstrom on March 8, 2024. The shop had been in operation since March 2023, marking just under two years at the shopping mall. It was situated on the second level of Nordstrom, adjacent to the Tommy Bahama clothing store.
A sign posted outside the closed storefront read, “Milk Bar will be closing March 8th. Thanks for being such great customers!”
Milk Bar gained popularity for its cakes, cookies, and signature Cereal Milk-flavored soft serve. The bakery also offered cake truffles, gluten-free desserts, pies, and cookie tins, as well as a cookbook by its founder, Christina Tosi. Among its most recognizable products was the Birthday Cake, inspired by classic boxed vanilla confetti cake.
The Bellevue Square location was Milk Bar’s first full-service shop in Washington state and was a recent addition to Nordstrom’s food and beverage offerings.
Milk Bar was founded by James Beard Award-winning pastry chef Christina Tosi. The brand originated in New York City’s East Village and rapidly grew a dedicated following. Currently, Milk Bar operates 12 locations across five U.S. markets and offers nationwide shipping through its direct-to-consumer eCommerce platform. Additionally, its products are available in grocery stores across the country.
Milk Bar’s remaining store locations are in New York, California, and Massachusetts.
Good riddance! Their ice cream was salty and tasted awful!! And their employees were rude and condescending.
