The Bellevue Collection

West Elm Bellevue is the brand’s Eastside store at 1 Bellevue Way NE, the ground-floor retail corner of Venn at Main where Bellevue Way meets Main Street in Old Bellevue — the west edge of the downtown core, a few blocks south of Bellevue Square. West Elm’s store locator files it as “Bellevue Gateway,” the project’s original name; locals know the block by its neighbors, Dough Zone and Nana’s Green Tea. Inside is the full modern-furniture floor — sofas, beds, dining, office — plus lighting, rugs, bedding, bath, window treatments, kitchen and gifts, with in-store pickup for online orders.

DBN first spotted West Elm on the city permits for the Main Street Gateway project in June 2016 — the brand’s first Bellevue location, with the nearest sibling then in South Lake Union — and covered the October 2016 opening: 14,215 square feet, a LOCAL program featuring seven Washington designers in the holiday assortment, and a cash wrap built from reclaimed pine and fir salvaged from a grain elevator in Clarkston, WA. The one-year anniversary sale and holiday photo shoot followed in November 2017, and that December a DBN editor test-drove the store’s complimentary design consultation from the first in-store appointment to the home visit.

It is the store for the modern-leaning room and the first real sofa, and the one Old Main stop that sends you home with something bigger than dinner. For the rest of downtown’s home and furniture stores, browse the downtown Bellevue shopping directory.

What You’ll Find

What You’ll Find at West Elm Bellevue

Modern furniture first, then the layers: lighting, rugs, bedding and the decor wall by the cash wrap.

The Anchor Department

Furniture

Sofas, sectionals, beds, dining and office pieces in the brand’s mid-century-leaning modern line — the reason the 14,215-square-foot floor exists, and the department the design consultants build a room around.

The Service

In-Store Pickup & Design Help

westelm.com lists in-store pickup for online orders at this store. DBN walked through the complimentary design consultation in 2017, from an in-store style tour to a home visit for measuring and layout; confirm current availability with the store.

For the Home

Lighting, Rugs & Window

Pendants, floor lamps, rugs and window treatments — the finishing layer, listed on the store page alongside art and mirrors and storage.

For the Bedroom & Bath

Bedding & Bath

Sheets, duvets, quilts, pillows and bath textiles, the departments that turn a furniture trip into a whole-room reset.

Worth the Trip

Kitchen, Dining & Gifts

Dinnerware, glassware, decor objects and the gift wall by the reclaimed-wood cash wrap — the small-ticket way into the store, and the reason it works for a Main Street gift run.

Where it sits on price: Mid-to-premium. West Elm is the accessible end of the Williams-Sonoma family — below Pottery Barn on the big furniture, with lighting, rugs, bedding and decor priced for a single-room refresh rather than a whole-house project.

West Elm Bellevue
Logistics

Getting There & When to Go

Old Bellevue logistics: street parking and public garages, the 2 Line a walk north, and Main Street’s restaurants on the same block.

Getting There & Parking

  • Drive: Metered street parking on Main Street, Bellevue Way and the numbered side streets, plus the public garages within a couple of blocks; westelm.com publishes no dedicated lot or validation for the store. Weekend evenings on Main Street fill early, so a big-furniture pickup is a weekday errand.
  • Light rail: 2 Line to Bellevue Downtown Station, then a walk south and west through downtown to the corner of Bellevue Way and Main Street — see our light rail guide
  • On foot: The store fronts the corner of Bellevue Way and Main Street at the base of Venn at Main; Dough Zone and Nana’s Green Tea share the retail row, Old Main’s restaurant block runs west from the corner, and Bellevue Square is a straight walk north up Bellevue Way.

Best Times to Go

Weekday afternoons are the quiet window for measuring and a consultation; weekends bring the Old Main brunch-and-browse crowd. New collections land seasonally, and the Old Bellevue wine walks and the holiday stretch make the block busiest of all.

Make It a Day

You are on the Venn at Main retail row, so the meal is next door: try Dough Zone beside the store for the dumpling lunch, Nana’s Green Tea on the same row for matcha and dessert, or Cantinetta a few blocks west on Main for dinner.
