Chawla Cafe is scheduled to open on Tuesday, October 1st. This fast-casual restaurant features a strictly vegetarian menu and provides both takeout and dine-in options. It is located at 12 Bellevue Way SE, at the corner of Bellevue Way and Main Street.
The menu includes various curries, naan options, appetizers, and other entrees. Chawla Cafe is the first restaurant of its kind for owner Anju Chawla.
Before Chawla Cafe, this location was home to Racha Go, a fast-casual Thai food restaurant. Racha Go was owned by Punya Tipyasothi, who also owns Racha Thai.
The original fast-food restaurant at this location was Jack in the Box, which closed in 2019. Jack in the Box owned the building for decades before selling it. After the sale, the restaurant vacated the premises.
According to permits filed with the City of Bellevue, a mixed-use residential project is planned for this property, which currently includes Bellevue Animal Hospital, Chawla Cafe, 7-Eleven, and others. The development will feature 278 residential units and provide 298 parking spaces across seven stories.
In addition to the residential units, the project includes 3,180 square feet of proposed office space and 13,085 square feet of proposed retail space. A 7,000 square foot plaza is planned in front of the zoned office space. The residential area will offer studio, one-bedroom, and two-bedroom apartments, along with amenities such as a rooftop deck and club room.
Chawla Cafe has no relation to Chawla Indian Cuisine which was located in Old Bellevue on Main Street after being evicted.
Thanks for clarifying that about no relations to Chawla Indian Cuisine. Excited about this one to see how is the food.
