Shopify has signed a deal for office space in downtown Bellevue, becoming the latest technology company to establish a presence in the city.

The Canadian e-commerce company is subleasing approximately 31,000 square feet from Google at the 112 @ 12th building in downtown Bellevue. The company plans to open the new office in May 2025.

Shopify has subleased the space as part of Google’s broader effort to list office space for sublease in the building. According to the Broderick Group, Google recently put 105,000 square feet up for sublease at 112 @ 12th. The company has leased office space in the building since 2018, occupying at least four floors through a combination of direct leases and subleases.

Google’s lease at the property is set to expire in February 2027. Approximately 55,000 square feet remain available for sublease in the building.

A Shopify spokesperson stated that “Shopify has entered the chat. We’re taking over Google. Our new Bellevue RnD office space opens this May! We’re on the lookout for engineering wizards to join our talented team and help power our millions of merchants around the world. Love the energy of an office? Perfect. Also a productivity-boosting home setup? Also perfect. At Shopify, we’re Digital by Design – what you build matters more than your location. No commute judgment, and a fire office you can work at anytime, win win! Join us.”

Shopify joins several other technology companies with offices in downtown Bellevue. TikTok expanded its presence in 2024 by leasing approximately 150,000 square feet at Lincoln Square North. Zoom announced in early 2025 that it would be leasing 18,943 square feet at Symetra Center, marking its first office in the Puget Sound region. OpenAI confirmed the establishment of a Bellevue office in 2024, following reports that the company was seeking office space in the area to support future growth.
