
An officer-involved shooting occurred Friday afternoon at the Bellevue Transit Center, prompting an independent investigation by the King County Independent Force Investigation Team.
According to the Bellevue Police Department, officers responded to a call for service at approximately 12:24 p.m. on Friday, December 12, at the Bellevue Transit Center located at 10850 NE 6th Street. During the response, an on-duty Bellevue police officer was involved in a shooting.
Both the officer and the suspect sustained injuries and were transported to an area hospital, police said.
In accordance with state law and an existing agreement, the incident has been turned over to the King County Independent Force Investigation Team (KC-IFIT), which will lead the investigation moving forward. Bellevue Police will not be releasing additional information while the investigation is underway.
In a news release, KC-IFIT stated that officers responded shortly after noon to a report of a disturbance at the transit center. According to the release, the suspect allegedly attacked officers, injuring one, before another officer discharged their firearm, striking the suspect.
KC-IFIT will provide further updates as the investigation continues.
