Rowan, a nurse-led, mom-founded ear-piercing studio, plans to open its first Washington state location at Bellevue Square in Spring 2026. The 1,446-square-foot studio will offer ear-piercing services performed exclusively by licensed nurses using hypoallergenic jewelry.
The company operates under medical guidelines and is supported by a medical advisory board. Rowan positions ear piercing as a medical procedure rather than a traditional retail service.
“We’re thrilled to bring our safe, celebratory ear-piercing studio to Bellevue — our very first location in Washington State,” said Louisa Serene Schneider, founder and CEO of Rowan. “The family-run Bellevue Collection is an incredible destination, and we couldn’t imagine a better place to introduce Rowan to the Pacific Northwest.”
Schneider founded Rowan after seeking a safer ear-piercing experience for her own daughter, according to the company. The brand was created to provide a medically guided alternative to traditional mall piercing options, with licensed nurses performing every piercing in a hygienic setting.
Rowan opened its first brick-and-mortar studio in New York City’s Upper East Side in 2020. Over the past five years, the company has expanded to approximately 100 studios nationwide. Locations are concentrated in major metropolitan and suburban markets, including New York City, Chicago, Los Angeles, Atlanta, Dallas, Miami, and Philadelphia.
“Our studio is more than just a place to get pierced; it’s a sanctuary for self-expression and celebration,” Schneider said. “By hiring licensed nurses to perform each ear piercing, we create meaningful, safe moments for families and loved ones to share.”
The Bellevue Square location will arrive at a time when there is currently no dedicated ear-piercing studio operating within the mall. It will be located on the first-level, just outside of Macy’s.
