The Bellevue Collection will celebrate Lunar New Year at Bellevue Square with a series of events, displays, and promotions in honor of the 2026 Year of the Horse. Lunar New Year marks the first new moon of the lunar calendar and is celebrated by many Asian cultures, including Chinese, Korean, and Vietnamese communities.
Lunar New Year decor and displays will be featured throughout Bellevue Square from February 17 through March 1. Beginning February 17, visitors can pick up a horse-themed craft at Guest Services, while supplies last.
The main Lunar New Year celebration will take place at Bellevue Square on Saturday, February 21, and will include live performances, activities, and cultural programming. The event is presented in partnership with the Seattle Chinese Culture and Arts Association (SCCAA) and the Overseas Community Affairs Council – Republic of China (Taiwan).
Beginning January 30, The Bellevue Collection is offering a Lunar New Year Red Envelope Bundle with select gift card purchases. Guests who purchase $100 or more in Bellevue Collection Gift Cards will receive a set of eight Lucky Red Envelopes, while supplies last. Gift cards can be purchased at Guest Services in Bellevue Square’s Center Court. Rules and restrictions apply. Details are available at Guest Services.
Lunar New Year follows a 12-year zodiac cycle, with each year represented by an animal. 2026 is the Year of the Horse. The holiday season is often marked by time spent with family and traditions focused on renewal, good health, and good fortune.
Many families celebrate the new year by sharing a meal. The Dining District at The Bellevue Collection features a variety of restaurants for your celebration. Book a private dining experience at Baron’s Sino Kitchen & Bar, Wild Ginger, and Thai Kitchen Bird Pepper, or make a reservation for a family-style meal at Din Tai Fung.
The celebration also recognizes the different cultural traditions associated with the Lunar New Year. During Chinese New Year, families prepare by cleaning their homes, decorating with lanterns, wearing new clothing, and exchanging greetings such as gong xi fa cai or gung hei faat choy to wish prosperity.
In Korean culture, Lunar New Year is known as Seollal and includes honoring ancestors, playing traditional games such as yutnori, and performing the bowing ceremony called sabae.
In Vietnamese culture, the holiday is celebrated as Tết, with traditions centered on family reunions, new clothing, special foods, home decorations, and paying respect to ancestors.
Lunar New Year programming at The Bellevue Collection will offer opportunities for the community to participate in cultural traditions and seasonal activities.
