A 25-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of vehicular assault after a multi-vehicle crash Saturday night at one of downtown Bellevue’s busiest intersections.
According to the Bellevue Police Department, the crash happened at approximately 9:50 p.m. on Saturday, July 25, at the intersection of 110th Avenue Northeast and Northeast 8th Street. Witnesses told officers the driver was traveling westbound on Northeast 8th Street at a high rate of speed before colliding with several other vehicles.
Officers Had Spotted the Vehicle Minutes Earlier
Police said officers were conducting proactive patrols downtown that evening, targeting vehicles with modified exhaust systems — a recurring summer complaint in the dense residential core. Officers spotted a vehicle with a loud muffler near 108th Avenue Northeast and Northeast 4th Street but were unable to locate it again. The crash at 110th and Northeast 8th was reported a short time later.
Injuries and Response
No life-threatening injuries were reported. The Bellevue Fire Department treated several people at the scene, and others were transported to area hospitals for evaluation.
The 25-year-old man was taken into custody and booked into the King County Jail on one count of vehicular assault.

The intersection of 110th Avenue Northeast and Northeast 8th Street sits in the heart of downtown Bellevue, a block from Bellevue City Hall and within walking distance of the Bellevue Downtown Station, Bellevue Square and the surrounding high-rise residential towers. Northeast 8th Street is one of the widest and fastest east-west corridors through downtown, and the stretch carries heavy pedestrian traffic on weekend evenings.
