Chantanee, a favored Thai restaurant in Downtown Bellveue, currently located behind Sports Authority in a remote alley for the last 14 years, has announced that they will move locations.

Their 6,000 sq ft new location will be located a couple of blocks away, at Key Center in the Downtown core. The move is expected to happen by September of this year.

A new menu, with new dishes, along with a full bar is expected to coincide with the opening of the new location. Chantanee will also add a happy hour to their menu, free WiFi, and outdoor dining.

Unfortunately, the move comes with a couple of downsides. Parking during the daytime will not be free, and it will become more of a hassle getting in and out of Key Center. Also, with escalating rent and costs of supplies, prices at Chantanee will increase after the move.

All and all, we think this will be a great move for Chantanee and ensures their presence in Downtown Bellevue for years to come.

  1. This is my favorite Thai Restaurant in Downtown Bellevue! I’m glad to see that they are able to withstand the great growth in the area and still make a profit with the rising costs of rent.

  2. I hope they don’t price out their regulars like me.

I wonder if the greater foot traffic will make up for the paid parking situation here.

  3. They have promised to still try to keep it under $10!

  4. Great to see Chantanee hit the big time, they definitely are due for a bigger space. There’s going to be a critical mass of Thai food in that area near the Galleria with Nibbanna and Chaiyo both just a few steps away.

  5. I wouldn’t expect Nibbanna to last much longer in that location. I’m sure a big project is being planned for there

  6. is this location on 108th or the corner off the street on the pedistrian corridor.

I thought it would be that off street corner, in that case it would be even less visible than the current location…

  7. Nibbanna isn’t going anywhere soon. In case you haven’t noticed, the real estate market is slowing to a crawl and since there’s no current proposal for that site, I doubt we’ll see anything materialize there for 5 years or so. I believe Wasatch (Washington Square developer) owns that parcel so expect them to either sell it or wait till phase II of WS to be built to move forward with anything on the Nibbanna site.

  8. I hope you’re right, “Mr. Anonymous,” because I love Nibanna!
