Elements Apartments is UDR’s three-building rental community at the eastern edge of the downtown core, where 112th Avenue NE runs between NE 8th and NE 10th — the block the leasing site calls the Ashwood Arts District, directly north of The Bravern and a few blocks up 112th from Bellevue Downtown Station. The three towers are 989 Elements, the round 23-story high-rise at 989 112th Ave NE; 958 Elements, the high-rise with the tilted roof canopy at 958 111th Ave NE, where the leasing office is; and 909 Elements, the wedge-shaped mid-rise at 909 112th Ave NE. Homes run from studios through two-bedrooms and penthouses, and the amenity list includes an indoor lap pool with Cascade views, a 24-hour fitness center with a yoga studio, a private theater, two resident lounges, conference rooms, a concierge, package lockers, bike storage, Zipcar on site and a lobby atrium hung with Dale Chihuly glass.

DBN has covered these buildings since the site’s first months. John Su’s 989 Elements opened in September 2006, and by 2007 it had an artists’ space, Open Satellite, in its unleased retail and Vertigo — billed as Bellevue’s first nightclub — on its second floor. The 958 and 909 buildings went up next door as Elements Too (originally Ashwood II), designed by architect Jim Cutler with a three-story atrium and a piazza between them; they took the Bellevue Downtown Association’s Skyline Award for 2009 and were complete by the end of that year, and DBN’s 2010 walk-through counted 166 homes at 989 and 274 across Elements Too. The ground floors have turned over ever since: The French Bakery arrived in 2010 and still anchors the atrium, Tokyo Steakhouse, Scotty Browns and Lunchbox Laboratory came and went, and 2024 brought The Knitters Studio and Upgrade Labs.

It is the building for 2 Line commuters and Bravern-side office workers who want an established community with a real amenity floor and a garage; compare the rest of the field in our guide to every downtown Bellevue apartment building.

DBN has reported on downtown Bellevue since 2005. This is Elements Apartments’s story as we covered it, as it happened.

August 2007

Bellevue is Missing Artists

A year after the 23-story 989 Elements opened, owner John Su turned its unleased retail into Open Satellite, an artists’ space, with Zen Asian Cuisine and Vertigo Lounge about to move in downstairs.

December 2007

Next door, Su Development’s Elements Too (originally Ashwood II) was rising as a high-rise and a 13-story mid-rise with 274 homes, 48,000 square feet of retail, a three-story atrium and five levels of underground parking.

January 2010

Bellevue Downtown Association’s 36th Annual ‘Place Making’ Awards

The BDA gave its Skyline Award for 2009 to Elements Too, crediting John Su and architect Jim Cutler for the uniquely shaped pair.

Location

Getting Around & Living Here

You are on the east edge of the grid here: the light rail station down 112th, The Bravern across NE 8th, and the freeway lid a block east.

Getting There & Parking

  • Drive: Residents park in the community garage, with reserved spaces available and reserved EV spaces that charge through the Xeal app; chargers are in the 989 tower’s retail lot and the residential lot. Guests park on P2 and register per the signage; tour visitors get their first hours free via ParkMobile on P1 or P2.
  • Light rail: 2 Line to Bellevue Downtown Station, then north along 112th Ave NE past The Bravern to the three towers between NE 8th and NE 10th — see our light rail guide
  • On foot: The leasing office is in the 958 tower on 111th Ave NE, reached by elevator to level 3. The Shops at The Bravern are across NE 8th; the 110th and 108th office corridor is a block or two west; Bellevue Square is a longer walk west along NE 8th.

What It’s Like

This is the commuter gateway into downtown: 112th carries the traffic off NE 8th and I-405, and the buildings sit between the Bravern’s office towers and the Microsoft and Amazon blocks to the north, so weekdays are busy and evenings quiet. The upper floors face the Cascades to the east and the downtown skyline to the west, and DBN’s 2010 walk-through described the three buildings as reading like one sculpture from the right angle. It suits people whose days run between the 2 Line, the Bravern and the 112th office towers.

What’s Nearby

The Bravern is across NE 8th, so the neighbors are close: try John Howie Steak at The Shops at The Bravern for the steakhouse night, Chutneys two blocks west at 110th and NE 10th for Indian, or Hermès at The Bravern when the occasion calls for it.

Good to Know

As of September 2026: cats and dogs welcome, up to two of each per home, no weight limit, restricted breeds listed on the official FAQ; tours are scheduled online and the leasing office is on level 3 of the 958 tower only — the 989 and 909 elevators do not reach it. The three buildings carry three addresses (989 and 909 112th Ave NE, 958 111th Ave NE) and older listings, including DBN’s own 2019 table, treated 989 Elements as a separate building; UDR leases all three as Elements Apartments. The official site shows current availability and pricing; DBN does not print rents.

Frequently Asked

Elements Apartments FAQ

Where is Elements Apartments in Bellevue?

On the east edge of the downtown core between NE 8th and NE 10th Streets, directly north of The Bravern and west of I-405. The leasing office is on the third floor of the 958 tower at 958 111th Ave NE; the other two buildings front 112th Avenue NE at 989 and 909. Bellevue Downtown Station is a few blocks south on 112th.

What is the difference between 989 Elements, 958 Elements and 909 Elements?

They are one community with one leasing office. 989 Elements is the original round 23-story tower at 989 112th Ave NE, opened in 2006. 958 and 909, built together as Elements Too and finished at the end of 2009, are the tilted-roof high-rise on 111th and the wedge-shaped mid-rise on 112th, joined by a three-story retail atrium. UDR markets all three as Elements Apartments; older listings (and DBN’s own 2019 table) split them as Elements Apartments and 989 Elements.

How many homes are in Elements Apartments, and when was it built?

About 440 homes across the three buildings, per DBN’s coverage: 166 in 989 Elements (opened 2006) and 274 in Elements Too (958 and 909, completed 2009). Su Development built all three; architect Jim Cutler designed Elements Too, which won the Bellevue Downtown Association’s Skyline Award for 2009. UDR now owns and manages the community.

What is parking like at Elements Apartments?

A resident garage with standard and reserved spaces, plus reserved EV spaces that charge through the Xeal app (chargers sit in the 989 tower’s retail lot and in the residential lot). Guest parking is on the P2 level, registered per the signage. Bike storage and rentable storage units are also listed.

Does Elements Apartments allow pets?

Yes: domestic cats and dogs, up to two dogs and two cats per home, with no weight limit but a list of restricted breeds on the official FAQ. Other animals are not permitted.
