Soma Towers is Su Development’s two-tower apartment complex on the northeast corner of NE 2nd Street and 106th Avenue NE — the south end of the downtown core, one block north of Old Main and directly across NE 2nd from the AC Hotel. The towers rise from a two-level podium of restaurants and shops (about 30,000 square feet of it, per the 2025 sale listing), and above it are 273 homes: studios, one- and two-bedrooms, with lofts and dens in select plans, floor-to-ceiling glass, in-home washer-dryers and air conditioning. The amenity list on the official site runs to an indoor lap pool and spa, a 24-hour fitness center with a yoga studio, a media lounge with a mini-theater and pool tables, a rooftop grilling station, an outdoor fire pit, and an expansive dog run with a dog wash. Greystar handles leasing from the office at 288 106th.

DBN has followed this corner since October 2010, when Su Development — already the builder of 989 Elements and Elements Too over on 112th — filed plans for a 21- and 18-story pair on a lot an earlier developer had walked away from in the crash. The first tower broke ground in May 2012 as Bellevue’s first new high-rise in four years (for a stretch of 2013 it carried the only crane downtown), opened to move-ins in the summer of 2014, and the second tower started that September and opened in 2016. The podium has been a steady beat on this site ever since: Bamboo Garden relocated here as La Bu La in 2015 when the AC Hotel took its old corner, followed over the years by FogRose, Xiao Chi Jie, Kung Fu Tea, La Parisienne, Lao Ma Tou, Chay Concept, L’Experience Paris and, in July 2026, Rooster & Rice. The Sobrato Organization bought both towers from Su Development in May 2025 in a roughly $193 million deal.

It suits renters who want Old Main and the Collection on foot and a restaurant row downstairs, in a building that opened in 2014 rather than 2024; see how it compares in our guide to every downtown Bellevue apartment building.

Soma Towers Through the Years on DBN

DBN has reported on downtown Bellevue since 2005. This is Soma Towers’s story as we covered it, as it happened.

October 2010

Soma Towers, New 2-Tower Apartment Project Planned to Break Ground in Spring 2011

Su Development, already the builder of 989 Elements and Elements Too, filed plans for a 21- and 18-story pair with a three-story retail podium and four levels of underground parking on a corner an earlier developer had abandoned in the crash.

May 2012

Downtown Bellevue high-rise, Soma Towers breaks ground

The first 21-story tower broke ground as Bellevue’s first new high-rise in four years, with retail, an exhibition hall, office space and below-grade parking in the permit.

September 2014

Downtown Bellevue Sites Demolished Making Way for Development

With the first tower open since July, Su Development started the second, slated for the end of 2015 or early 2016 and built to match the 21-story original.

Location

Getting Around & Living Here

You are at the quiet south end of the downtown grid here: Old Main a block south, the Collection a few blocks north, and the garage under your feet.

Getting There & Parking

  • Drive: Resident parking is in the below-grade garage under the towers — DBN’s 2012 permit coverage counted roughly 200 stalls per tower — with assignment and current terms from the leasing office. Guests taking a scheduled tour get complimentary parking for the visit.
  • Light rail: 2 Line to Bellevue Downtown Station, then southwest through the grid — west on NE 6th and south on 106th Ave NE to NE 2nd (East Main Station, then west along Main Street, is about as close) — see our light rail guide
  • On foot: The residential entrance is on 106th Ave NE at NE 2nd. Main Street’s restaurants are one block south; Bellevue Square, Lincoln Square and Meydenbauer Center are a short walk north up 106th or Bellevue Way; the Civica and City Center office blocks are two blocks east on 108th.

What It’s Like

This is the calmer edge of downtown: NE 2nd is a local street rather than an arterial, the block is residential and hotel rather than office, and the podium restaurants bring evening and weekend foot traffic rather than a lunch rush. Upper floors look over Old Bellevue toward Meydenbauer Bay and the Olympics; DBN’s coverage of the second tower noted it was built to match the first. It suits people who work in the 108th corridor or the Collection and want to walk home past a dozen places to eat.

What’s Nearby

You are steps from Old Main and the 108th corridor, so the neighbors are easy: try AC Hotel Bellevue directly across NE 2nd for visiting family, Seastar two blocks east at NE 2nd and 108th for the seafood dinner, or Cantinetta a block south on Old Main for Tuscan plates.

Good to Know

As of September 2026: dogs and cats welcome with restrictions (ask the leasing office); tours are guided and booked online; leasing is by Greystar. The address confuses map apps — the leasing office and first tower are 288 106th Ave NE, the second tower is 258, and podium tenants use 278 and 10606 NE 2nd St. The official site shows current availability and pricing; DBN does not print rents.
