With major development starting up again in Downtown Bellevue we thought it would be a good time to put together a new wish list of stores that would be a good fit for the city.

I assume “Dick’s” is supposed to be on a separate line above. That I totally agree with but would push to the very top of the list!
I’d love to see a magazine stand similar to the one that went away in crossroads – it was always fun to glance through such a wide selection and each member of the family always left with one.

I’m surprised that the area’s American Girl store is at Alderwoood and not in Bellevue.
Noodles & Co. would be a nice addition, too.

Admittedly I’m a little biased since my uncle runs the one down in Federal Way, but a Sub-Zero Ice Cream (http://www.subzeroicecream.com/) somewhere that isn’t 30 miles away would be nice to have. Unfortunately Downtown Bellevue has been a little oversaturated with ice cream/yogurt places, and I’m not sure how well one of those would work out.
In more general terms, some more late night food options would be nice to have too, since I don’t think it’s possible to go to Denny’s and not end up regretting it an hour later. In terms of more specifics, a couple of places I wouldn’t mind seeing in Downtown Bellevue:
– Frost Donuts (currently one location in Mill Creek, better than Top Pot in my opinion)
– Tat’s Deli (a really great Philly Cheesesteak place in Pioneer Square)
I think a Yard House, BJ’s, or Buffalo Wild Wings would be great options to take over the vacated Munchbar space. We definitely need a real sports bar in the area and Munchbar was the closest thing we had.
Great list. I’d love to see more small, independent restaurants like you might find on Capitol Hill or in Belltown. We have plenty of corporate restaurants.
@Beth, I agree. My suggestion was for the Munchbar space which because of it’s size and location is more attractive for large chains. I think the Ashwood and Old Bellevue neighborhoods would be more ideal for new independent restaurants. Both areas already have a decent collection of restaurants but it’ll be nice to see more variety.
Trader Joe’s would be at the top of my list.
As far as department stores go, I would love to have a Bloomingdales here.
Trader Joes. Molly Moon. Pancake House.
Trader’s Joes and Dick’s.
And off your list- a decent Mexican food joint.

Trader Joe’s! I remember a form on their website to petition for a store. I don’t see that anymore.
Also more independent coffee shops like Zoka where I can work from 🙂
Totally agree on Trader Joe’s, H&M, Zara and West Elm. Would also love to see CB2, Half Price Books or a book exchange place like McDonald’s Book Exchange in Redmond, and a Hawaiian restaurant, and would love Mora ice cream to return.
Bloomingdales, Saks Fifth Avenue, BJ’s, Yard House, a good Mexican restaurant.
Please good Mexican like Matador would be very welcome in this town.
Matador would be a great fit for Main Street. Maybe they can take up space in the SRM project.

@Mitchell… completely agree about the Munchbar space. I was just saying the other day that Buffalo Wild Wings would be a great place to put there. Kinda family friendly… not enough sports bars in Bellevue.
We need a Trader Joe’s and a Caffe Appassionato. Also would like more options for brunch, and a cafe with good soup and salad.

Zara, Zara, Zara! @Caroline, I had no idea it was opening at Westlake – so excited! I would love a West Elm, CB2, Via Tribunal, Fonte Espresso, and some independent restaurants and boutiques. And, of course, Trade Joe’s would be amazing.

I would love to see a venue similar to the ice skating rink for our kids, but instead of that, make it like the indoor wave pool that is common to large cities across Canada. If it is done right (clean, fun), it could attract a lot of folks.
