Doce Donuts is closing its Bellevue shop at 1015 108th Ave NE, just down the street from KidsQuest Children’s Museum, the company announced on social media.
In an Instagram post, the shop said it had spent the past year and change trying to make the Bellevue location work, pouring what it described as love, donuts, coffee, and energy into the shop, but that “the math just isn’t working.” As a result, the family-owned business has put the Bellevue location up for sale.
No closing date has been set, and the shop said it will continue operating as usual, making fresh donuts and pouring specialty coffee, until a sale is finalized. “We’ll keep you posted here as we have more to share,” the post read, thanking customers for their support of the Bellevue shop.
The Bellevue location was Doce Donuts’ third shop and its first on the Eastside, opening in spring 2025. The company also operates two locations in Seattle, in the Fremont and South Lake Union neighborhoods, which are not affected by the closure announcement.
Doce Donuts is known for its artisanal, hand-crafted donuts and coffee, with a rotating lineup of monthly flavors that has included strawberry shortcake, salted miso chocolate, and brown butter sea salt. The shop uses a 24-hour raised brioche dough, allowing the dough to ferment naturally for a softer texture, and has also developed an in-house vegan version of its brioche-style donut designed to match the taste and texture of its traditional offerings.
The menu draws on Latin American flavors, including tres leches, passion fruit crème, churro dulce de leche, matcha crème brûlée, and chocolate Baileys, alongside classic flavors and seasonal specials.
The shop’s owners have backgrounds in baking and family roots in Argentina and Venezuela. Before relocating to Seattle, they ran a family-owned bakery in Florida. The name Doce, Spanish for “twelve,” is a nod to the Seattle Seahawks and the team’s “12th man” fanbase.
The Bellevue shop occupies a space previously home to Café Cesura, a coffee shop that had operated there since 2011. Café Cesura closed in October 2024 after receiving a closure order tied to unpaid bills.
