If you’ve been driving (or walking) around downtown Bellevue in the last few days you’ve likely seen a change in the landscape. Buildings at the corner of Bellevue Way and Main Street, as well as 106th Ave NE and NE 2nd St have been demolished making way for new construction.

At the northeast corner of Bellevue Way NE and Main Street land has been cleared for the Main Street Gateway Project, which is planned to be made up of 23,475 square feet of retail, 369 apartments, and 625 underground parking stalls.

Similarly at the northeast corner of 106th Ave NE and NE 2nd St, Soma Towers has started development for their second tower that is slated to be complete by the end of 2015 or beginning of 2016. The second tower will be similar to the first tower, which is 21-stories and 148 apartments. The first tower opened in July.

  1. End of an era to see Sea Garden/Koi’s like that

  2. Um, Soma Towers isn’t opened yet, and is a lot more than 7 stories. They are offering hard hat tours of their 20+ story building though. I think move-in can be scheduled for late October.

  3. Actually, Soma Towers Phase 1 has been opened for a few months now. It’s a little over half occupied already.

  4. @Anon, yes the 7-stories was obviously an error, it’s 21. (Updated now.) And to jc’s point — residents (according to the developer) first moved in, in July of this year.

  5. The article says that the NE corner of Bellevue Way NE & Main St. is currently being redeveloped.

It is the NW corner, not NE.

  6. Thanks Michael and jc. Interesting, they told me not until October. Maybe they’ve already rented the units that are available or something?
