Sushi restaurant, Takai by Kashiba, is opening on Thursday, September 8th. It is located on the ground floor of luxury condo building, One88. They will be serving dinner beginning at 5pm.
Takai by Kashiba is an edomae style sushi restaurant. The menu is filled with curated omakase dinner items from Chef Jun, based on the availability of seasonal, local, and fresh ingredients. Sake and tea pairings are offered as well.
There are two menus available; Sushi Bar, which is omakase only, and Table, which is also omakase only. The price of the Sushi Bar is $180 and the price of Table service is $150. Takai by Kashiba plans to add a la cart offerings in the future for $110.
According to a representative for the company, reservations are booked for the grand opening and walk-ins will not be accepted.
The fine dining eatery is led by Chef Jun Takai. Jun led the restaurant, Shiro’s, in Belltown. He was then the chef at I Love Sushi in Bellevue. Takai was recruited from Tokyo by the legendary chef Shiro Kashiba. Kashiba is a three-time James Beard Award nominee for Outstanding Chef. He opened his current restaurant, Sushi Kashiba in Pike Place Market in 2015. Kashiba’s family is partnering with Takai for the soon-to-be popular Takai by Kashiba.
