Downtown Bellevue’s PetSmart, a staple for pet products, services, and small animals, is set to close its doors for good. Located at 100 108th Avenue Northeast, the store’s final day of operation will be Sunday, February 8, according to an employee.

PetSmart has been part of the Bellevue community since March 2009, when it replaced the former CompUSA store, which closed in 2007. Now, this longtime pet supply store is among several tenants preparing to vacate as the building and its neighboring properties are planned to be demolished.

The demolition will also affect nearby businesses, including Blazing Bagels, HMart, Office Depot, and the former Toys “R” Us. These changes are making way for a major redevelopment project led by Hines, in partnership with Benenson Capital Partners and USAA Real Estate.

The site will be transformed into Main Street Place, a mixed-use development announced in 2021. This project is being designed by architecture firm KPF and local design firm GGLO. It will be developed in multiple phases.

Main Street Place will feature four commercial office towers, two residential buildings, ground-level active-use spaces, and 2,133 parking stalls within below-grade parking structures. Additional highlights include pedestrian-friendly north-south and east-west through-block connections, a spacious outdoor plaza, street frontage enhancements, and integrated landscaping and lighting.

The applicant plans for the project to include 1.1 million square feet of commercial space, 400,000 square feet of residential space, 90,000 square feet of retail, and over an acre of public space. The development aims to redefine the area with a blend of work, living, and leisure options.
