A new national study conducted by CommercialSearch, has ranked Bellevue sixth among U.S. cities best positioned for alternative job markets, highlighting the city’s strong performance in education, commercial growth, and quality of life.

The study examined cities with populations between 100,000 and 400,000, evaluating them across metrics including employment, education, commercial investment, and affordability. The goal was to identify mid sized cities emerging as strong alternatives to traditional major metro job centers.

Researchers found that 76.4 percent of Bellevue residents age 25 and older hold at least a bachelor’s degree, the fourth highest percentage among all cities analyzed. The city also ranked seventh for the volume of recent commercial construction relative to population and placed 15th for commercial real estate growth over the past five years.

In addition to economic indicators, the study noted Bellevue’s high level of leisure and entertainment activity, with 275 entertainment venues and related establishments per 10,000 residents.

The report explains that rising costs and crowded job markets in large metropolitan areas are pushing both companies and workers toward mid sized cities that offer strong career opportunities and improved purchasing power. Bellevue was identified as a leading example of this shift.

Among the top ranked cities, Wilmington, North Carolina placed first, followed by Sparks, Nevada in second and Sunnyvale, California in third. West Palm Beach, Florida ranked fourth and Lansing, Michigan placed fifth, with Bellevue following at sixth.

The study’s findings place Bellevue among the top emerging job markets in the United States as companies and workers increasingly seek alternatives to traditional major city hubs.
