A new affordable housing development is moving forward in Bellevue, according to recent city permit filings.
The project, known as Altaire at East Main, is proposed for a 4.55-acre site at 995 118th Ave SE. Plans call for the redevelopment of a partially built hotel into a seven-story multifamily residential building. The site is shared with the existing Nuovo apartments in West Bellevue.
Permit documents show the development would include 146 income-restricted housing units and 95 parking spaces. The building is expected to total approximately 154,000 gross square feet and will feature one level of daylit parking beneath residential floors.
The project is being led by SRM Development, which is seeking Design Review approval from the city. Construction is currently anticipated to begin in March 2027.
Altaire at East Main is planned as an income-restricted community, with units designated for households earning between 30% and 60% of the area median income. The development will include a mix of one-, two-, and three-bedroom apartments, along with one manager’s unit.
Project materials indicate the development is intended to increase housing density while expanding access to below-market-rate housing in Bellevue. The proposal is also expected to contribute to addressing local housing needs within an established residential area.
SRM Development is partnering with Hopelink on the project. The development has also been awarded $4.6 million in funding from ARCH, which supports affordable housing projects across East King County.
The property is located near the Wilburton Park and Ride, providing access to regional transit connections.
