Bellevue has approved design review for Arizona-based Alliance Residential’s project that will bring a 10-story, 442-unit apartment development to the Wilburton neighborhood.
The project, known as Broadstone East Wilburton, received approval on April 29, according to city records. It will redevelop four parcels at 12000, 12022, and 12028 NE 8th Street, along with 12011 NE Bel-Red Road, into a single 2.31-acre site.
Plans call for a new 10-story building with up to 442 residential units, 443 subgrade parking stalls, ground-floor active uses, and a combination of private and publicly accessible open spaces. The development will replace approximately 28,420 square feet of office space and 24 existing multifamily units.
A two-story office building currently on the site houses several jewelry-related businesses, including EraGem, Tara Nash Jeweler and Diamond Buyer, and Washington Gold Exchange. The surrounding area includes a mix of auto dealerships, repair shops, gas stations, offices, retail, restaurants, and other multifamily housing developments.
The building is designed with a contemporary urban aesthetic and will consolidate vehicle access to a single driveway from NE Bel-Red Road. Existing driveways along NE 8th Street will be removed as part of the redevelopment.
A key feature of the project is a third-level public courtyard totaling about 6,802 square feet, or roughly 7.4% of the site. The space will include seating areas, decorative paving, and pedestrian connections to NE 8th Street via a landscaped corridor with benches and tables. Additional private open space areas will be provided for residents.
The development is located approximately 1,000 feet from the future Wilburton light rail station and within about 150 feet of a RapidRide B Line bus stop, placing it near existing and planned transit options.
The project also includes 22 units designated as affordable housing for lower-income households. No construction phasing has been proposed, and a timeline for development has not been announced.
