City of Bellevue Submits Application for New Gateway to Bellevue Downtown Park

According to an application from the City of Bellevue, there are plans to improve the NE corner of Bellevue Downtown Park, located at the corner of NE 4th Street and Bellevue Way. The goal of the project is to create a new pedestrian gateway plaza that includes new lighting, a water feature, public art, improvements to the landscape and infrastructure, plus a more formal connection to the downtown core.

The size of the project site is about 1.77 acres or 76,000 square feet. For context, the entire Bellevue Downtown Park is 17.8-acres. The application describes that there will be “ample seating opportunities” within the enhanced area within the park.

The project is currently slated to begin in the first half of 2020 and be completed by the first quarter of 2021.
