Beginning September 10-19, Bellevue will be celebrating the sixth annual Welcoming Week with many different events. The week is dedicated to welcoming new immigrants and celebrating diverse communities. Residents are invited to engage in cultural traditions, art, and dance.
Events taking place in Bellevue are as follows:
PopUp StoryWalk, “Drawn Together” Sept. 4-25, dawn to dusk
PopUp StoryWalk, the local literacy program, is an installation that is taking place along the Lake to Lake Trail from Wilburton Hill Park to Bellevue Botanical Garden, sharing the story “Drawn Together” along the way.
Cultural Conversations, Belonging in the Garden, Friday Sept. 17, 1-2:30 p.m.
‘Belonging in the Garden’ will feature informal pop-in conversations and sharing.This is going to take place at the Bellevue Botanical Garden at an outdoor covered reception area. Participants are invited to share their story on an interactive story board. Guests are also invited to take a walk to enjoy the Bellwether art installations at the garden. Bellevue’s annual arts festival is taking place September 9-19. The biennial sculpture exhibit now features diverse art forms and supports local artists. Bellwether includes art exhibits, live music, pop-up art shows, artist-led panel discussions, and workshops.
Tree Talks at Bellevue Botanical Garden, Sept. 18, 10 a.m.-1 p.m.
Participants are invited to share stories about their favorite tree and the importance of trees in their culture and those across the world.
Community Connections Fair at Crossroads Park Sept. 18, 10 a.m.-1 p.m.
This fair is a chance to meet local organizations including many led by Black, African, Latino, Asian, South Asian, Muslim, Immigrant communities and allies.
