If you were in Manzana this weekend you might’ve realized a bit of construction going on inside of the restaurant.

Palomino, in two weeks time, will take over where Manzana has left off. The remodeling has started a bit early and will go into full effect when Manzana closes their doors for good this Sunday, May 11th.

Palomino has 8 restaurants across the United States, with one in our own backyard: Seattle. No other state has two locations, which will make this area special, with Bellevue and Seattle locations to be the first.

For those not familiar with Palomino, it is described as a “Euopean-inspired Regional American Cuisine.” The prices range from mid-teens to mid-20’s. Look for the opening of Palomino at Lincoln Square, if goes as scheduled, on May 29th.

  1. I’m a bit surprised that Manzana is out, they seemed pretty busy, I wonder what happened.

  2. With Ruth’s Chris not serving a late night happy hour anymore and now Manzana gone, that really limits the variety of gourment burgers one can get in downtown around 10pm on a random week night. At least we still got McCormick’s.

  3. The only reason I can think of that they weren’t doing well is because their price points weren’t high enough compared to their cost of rent.

Yes, also disappointed with another happy hour going away…especially Manzana’s, which was a good one!

  4. They’re gone because opening a restaurant is one of the most capital intensive small business you can enter and 90+% fail. Palomino will step in for pennies on the dollar and be able to make it, even though I don’t think they’re that much better or exciting than Manzana.

Manzana was rumored to be in trouble months ago. Next up on the chopping block is most likely Trader Vic’s with rumors of a failure circulating already.

  5. Trader Vics has a terrible location and IMHO overpriced. It sounds like this new place will be more expensive then Manzana, hopefully they will have a good happy hour.

  6. I love this restaurant so much. It had the best chicken sandwhich, best burger and best atmosphere in downtown Bellevue. 🙁

  7. wtf I loved Manzana. I’m surprised that place across from the SCAN furniture is still in business. Can’t remember the name of it but they manage to have an even worse location than Trader Vic’s.

  8. The Palomino in downtown Seattle has an excellent happy hour. Very different menu from Manzana though. The place across from Scan that the last poster is talking about is Cypress which is the Westin’s hotel bar so I don’t think that’ll be going anywhere anytime soon.

  9. That’s fantastic Palomino is replacing Manzana! Been to Manzana once and didn’t really care for their food and never went back. Palomino Seattle does have a great happy hour. Nice to have another great happy hour option in our own backyard.

  10. Manzana – I had it out with a manager one time as the service was pathetic. Glad to see a change.

Trader vics has good wait staff.

  11. only ate at manazana once. the chicken was drier than the mojave desert, and the caesar salad was lacking.

could never quite figure out the true identity of that place. was only a matter of time until it went belly up.

  12. I’d heard that Manzana got bought by Restaurants Unlimited, which also owns Palomino, and they decided to swap out the restaurants.

  13. That makes more sense. They were always crowded whenever I was in there and it had become somewhat of a hang-out spot before going to the theatre. I agree with the other poster that their chicken sucked, but they made a deee licious burger. If luciano’s can stay in business and this place can’t, then something just ain’t right with the world.

  14. Eastside Uptown Girl

I think Palomino has more of an identity due to it’s long standing presence in Seattle. I hope they do well in Bellevue.

You can get a really good happy hour burger at Newport Bay on the border of Bellevue and Kirkland. I think they are 2.99. With fries!

  15. My lovely wife and I just had dinner at the new location and it was SUPERB! The staff are fantastic, friendly and very knowledgeable about the menu. Don’t miss the FRESH bread and tomato relish before your meal arrives! WOW! Forget Joeys, it’s overpriced, mediocre and yesterday! EVERYTHING about the Palimino says QUALITY in a fun and dignified way that this Eastsider gladly welcomes.
