Boom Noodle Bellevue Pad Thai

Boom noodle opened at Bellevue Square in March of this year, and they are already taking strides to improve their dining. First off, Boom has added booths in the main dining room. Previously, most of the seating was communal-style long tables and chairs.

The menu has also been updated with some favorites that expand beyond Japanese cuisine. New items include:

  • Vietnamese noodle salad
  • Chicken pho
  • Pad Thai
  • Spicy beef udon
  • Calamari
  • Fresh spring rolls
  • Spicy garlic beef
  • Coconut curry soup

These popular items round out Boom Noodle’s menu very nicely. The one critique of Boom has always been that people don’t know what to order (or what to expect). This is typically because people haven’t dined there before. With some of these more popular dishes now added, it will allow those new to Boom to more easily order things they are familiar with and allow them to ease into some of the more unique and exotic dishes!

I had a chance to try the Pad Thai Chicken at Boom this last week. The dish was unique, with its own flavor and spice. I will be back to continue down the list of new items!

  1. after visiting japan, I had to find some japanese ramyun (Noodles). We went to boom, ordered kimchi ramyun and the 2 regulars?houespecial whatevers and we were all disappointed. they got new pieces on their menu? not sure if its worth a shot… you make the pix look good tho

  2. Vue- Give it another try…I had the Pad Thai Chicken, and I’m a fan (already been back for a seconds)!

  3. The place is pretty good, you probably went on an off night.

  4. I wonder if anyone can shed led light on whether they’ve changed management, chefs, or service staff. I went a few months ago and not only was the food not flavorful, but the service we received was horrible.

From reading the post they’ve updated many things…

  5. really? how did lea like it?

  6. Thanks for posting about the changes. One of the reasons we swapped out some of the communal tables for booths and individual tables was because we get so much business traffic and sometimes a big communal table doesn’t lend itself for a “business lunch.” It feels like we have a nice balance now, and we’re having a lot of fun with the new menu items. Would love to hear what people are enjoying the most.

  7. When Boom opened in Bellevue I loved it the food was fast, tasty and hot. But more recently I’ve been twice and was quite dissappointed….the food…and I had the same dish eash time which I used to love…was just not up to standard for my last two visits. Such a shame as I live so close. 🙁

  8. I used to trek over to cap hill to eat at boom and was very excited to hear that they were opening in bellevue. The first few times I was there everything was good. Great service, hot, CLEAN food but as months passed service got really bad and the food came out lukewarm, not to mention the “dirty” food presentation. We stopped going there after giving them several attempts to improve. I have to disagree with you that people don’t know what to order at boom because the menu is straight forward. Come on, they got the typical Japanese food in the menu. Probably the horrible service and lukewarm food detracted customers. They are losing their identity by straying away from Japanese and now adding Thai and vietnamese dishes. Kind of like those teriyaki shops selling sushi. Why would you want sushi from a teriyaki shop?

  9. It’s ‘Boom Noodle’ not ‘Japanese Noodle’. I think it’s fine if they are expanding the menu to other noodle related dishes (as long as they taste good).

I’ve had pretty good experiences when I’ve gone in lately, I can’t complain.

  10. Overall I love boom noodle, but they just don’t seem to entirely get it sometimes.

The food is great overall, but the presentation and quality control could be greatly improved.

As an example, I love their Japanese Curry (near impossible to find outside of Japan). It is nearly spot on with a place I stop at every time I go to Tokyo (Akihabara). The only problem, they only offer it with Katsu and do a horrible job of laying out the dish.

Beyond that, I would definately agree with the posters above about things getting worse. I have seen service decline to the point where on multiple occassions I didn’t even get the Edamame I ordered or got it well after my dish was delivered rather than as a nice appitizer. When it does arrive, all the pods look like old men, all shriveled up and read to die, with a huge clump of salt in the center rather than nicely spread out over the entire dish.

We have also been having an issue with having dishes delivered seperately to the same table. Order just two dishes and you are likely to get them as much as 10 minutes apart from each other.

Once again, love the food, but the Bellevue location just can’t seem to deliver at the same caliber of service as the Seattle location.
