Since the launch of the SAVE BAM campaign, the Bellevue Arts Museum (BAM) has been encouraged by an outpouring of support from the local community and beyond. With just over half of the campaign timeline elapsed, BAM is thrilled to announce that they have surpassed the two-thirds mark of their $300,000 fundraising goal, collecting an impressive $223,058.

The success of the campaign can be attributed to the grassroots efforts of individuals within the Bellevue community, whose contributions have ranged from $10 to $10,000. Every donation, regardless of size, has been met with appreciation from the BAM team. A particularly noteworthy contribution arrived unexpectedly from a donor outside of the local sphere.

Hailing from Minnesota, a generous benefactor, inspired by an article in The Art Newspaper highlighting BAM’s financial challenges, made a remarkable donation of $145,000. This demonstration of support from beyond Bellevue underscores the universal significance of cultural institutions like BAM and the vital role they play in communities nationwide.

Kate Casprowiak Scher, BAM’s newly appointed Executive Director, expressed her gratitude for the overwhelming response to the campaign. She emphasized the importance of continued community involvement in achieving and surpassing the fundraising target. Scher highlighted the goal of fostering partnerships with local stakeholders, inviting at least six key entities to join BAM in securing its future and that of Bellevue’s cultural landscape. Looking beyond the immediate campaign, Scher outlined plans for an endowment campaign aimed at ensuring the long-term sustainability of the museum.

Scher’s vision for BAM’s future is one of transformation and community-driven growth. She believes that with the collective support, advocacy, and belief of the community, BAM can evolve into a cornerstone of Bellevue’s cultural identity, serving residents, artists, students, and visitors alike.

As the SAVE BAM campaign enters its final three weeks, the museum extends its heartfelt appreciation to all who have contributed thus far and calls upon the community to continue to Believe in BAM. If you are interested in donating, visit the website.
