Boba Tea

According to a permit for the City of Bellevue, a new boba tea shop is planning to open in downtown Bellevue. Choo Tea will be located at 155 108th Avenue Northeast.

The milk tea shop will feature fruit tea, milk tea, coffee, egg waffles, sandwiches, and more. The space will be divided into a dining area, front desk, kitchen, and storage room.

Choo Tea will be going into the Bellevue Plaza building. Bake’s Place is also located here. It first opened in 2012. The dining and music venue provides a jazz scene to the downtown Bellevue nightlife.

Fairly new to downtown Bellevue, bubble tea shop, ChiCha San Chen opened in 2023 on 105th Avenue Northeast. The boba at this location is made fresh for each order from toasted tea leaves that are harvested from their own tea plantation.

Another boba tea shop in the area is The Whale Tea, which opened in 2022 on Bellevue Way Northeast. Known for its use of only natural ingredients, drinks are made using only milk, cream, chai, and fresh fruit.

Other bubble tea shops in the area include Tra Tea and Juice Bar, Kung Fu Tea, and Mi Tea. Bubble tea originated in Taiwan in the early 1980s. It was then brought to the United States in the 1990s, first opening in California.
