A new extended-stay hotel is being planned for the former Eye Clinic of Bellevue property in the city’s Wilburton neighborhood.
Seattle-based developer Kauri Investments purchased the property at 1300 116th Ave. NE in July 2024 for $6.75 million. Recent filings with the City of Bellevue indicate the company has selected Hyatt House as the hotel brand for the redevelopment. Hyatt House locations feature suite-style accommodations with full kitchens, catering to guests staying for extended periods.
According to city records, the proposal calls for an eight-story hotel building with 174 guest rooms. The project would include 132 parking stalls across two below-grade parking levels and one above-grade level. Plans also feature a hotel lobby, bar, and dining area, and a fitness space for guests.
The building is expected to total approximately 175,000 square feet. Seattle-based architecture firm Johnson Braund is listed as the project’s designer.
Application materials submitted to the city indicate a target opening in 2028, with construction anticipated to last approximately 20 months.
In a project narrative included in preapplication documents, the development team stated the goal is to create a hotel that adds an active presence to the area and aligns with the vision for the evolving Wilburton neighborhood. The proposal emphasizes the site’s location, contemporary design, and connection to public transportation as key elements of the project.
The redevelopment would replace the existing two-story medical office building currently occupied by the Eye Clinic of Bellevue, along with its surface parking lot.
