Shared scooters are coming back to Bellevue. Starting Monday, August 10, Lime will deploy 500 shared electric vehicles across the city, a fleet of 350 scooters, 50 e-bikes, and 100 seated “gliders” that unlock through the Lime app, the city announced this week.
The launch restores shared micromobility to Bellevue for the first time since Lime’s e-bike pilot ended in 2019, and it lands just months after the 2 Line brought light rail service across Lake Washington. The city is positioning the fleet as a transit connector. Later this fall, riders will be able to earn ride discounts when a trip ends near a light rail station or transit center.
What’s Rolling Out
- 350 e-scooters — Lime’s standard stand-up scooters
- 50 e-bikes — pedal-assist electric bikes
- 100 seated gliders — Lime’s newer pedal-free, step-through vehicle, built as a more stable option for riders who would rather sit
Devices will be distributed citywide and unlocked through the Lime app. Riders without a smartphone can start a trip by texting 415-463-3473.
Reduced fares are available through Lime Access for riders enrolled in ORCA LIFT, RRFP, Medicaid, and other assistance programs.
How to Ride
Riders are expected to use bike lanes or multi-use paths when available. Helmets are required for bikes and e-bikes, and strongly encouraged for scooters.
Where to Park
Devices should be left in marked parking corrals, with at least six feet of sidewalk clearance and nothing blocking curb ramps, transit stops, or building entrances. Parking is not allowed in city parks or in designated no-parking zones.
Launch Celebration at Amazon Meadow
The city will mark the launch with a celebration on Friday, August 21, from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. at Amazon Meadow (600 108th Ave. NE) in Downtown Bellevue, featuring mobility resources from partner organizations and free helmet distribution.
Lime’s Second Act in Bellevue
Lime ran a one-year, 400-bike e-bike share pilot here before opting not to renew its agreement with the city in late 2019 as it shifted its focus to scooters.
