Chick-fil-A, located on Northeast Eighth Street, is temporary closed for a remodel. Signage located outside of the fast-food restaurant reads, “Here we grow again. Closed for remodeling.” The address is 785 116th Avenue Northeast.
According to the City of Bellevue, Chick-fIl-A recognizes that there have been ongoing traffic congestion impacts at the restaurant on Northeast Eighth Street. The restaurant operator has applied for, and the city has issued permits for a reconfiguration of the restaurant and parking lot partially aimed at easing congestion on adjacent streets. This location will be closed temporarily while renovations are completed.
Plans include a redesign and extension of the existing drive-through area with stacking lanes in a dual-lane configuration, according to city permits. The location will be a drive-through only service once it reopens.
We reached out to Chick-fil-A for further comment on what the remodel entails, as well as when it will be completed, and have not yet heard back.
In late April 2015, Chick-fil-A announced new traffic controls for the restaurant due to heavy congestion surrounding the drive-thru. The original plan was to allow 10 cars into the parking lot simultaneously, and once the lot became full, to have an off-duty police officer close the driveway into the restaurant and flag motorists on. At the time, the City of Bellevue and Chick-fil-A were working together to supplement parking options nearby.
The fast-food eatery opened on April 9, 2015. It is the only Chick-fil-A in Bellevue.
