Amazon is deepening its investment in Bellevue’s affordable housing efforts with a new $100 million commitment aimed at expediting development for low-to-moderate income families. The funding, announced during the groundbreaking ceremony for the Spring District BRIDGE Housing Community, will help reduce construction timelines by up to two years, allowing families to secure housing more quickly.

The initiative is part of Amazon’s broader $3.6 billion Housing Equity Fund, which seeks to create and preserve 35,000 affordable homes across three key regions: Puget Sound, the National Capital area, and Nashville. In Bellevue, the focus will be on city-supported projects, including three transit-friendly, city-owned sites that prioritize accessibility and community integration.

David Zapolsky, Amazon’s Chief Global Affairs and Legal Officer, underscored the significance of this investment, emphasizing its role in addressing Bellevue’s growing demand for affordable housing. “To date, we’ve helped create or preserve more than 1,400 homes in Bellevue, increasing the City’s affordable housing units by 31%. Today’s commitment brings us closer to securing affordable housing for those in need,” Zapolsky stated.

One of the major beneficiaries of this funding is the Spring District BRIDGE Housing Community. The development will feature two multi-story buildings near the Spring District Link rail station, providing 234 affordable homes. Units will range from studios to three-bedroom apartments, catering to households earning 60% or less of the Area Median Income. Additionally, 40 units will be designated for individuals with developmental disabilities. The project is slated for completion in November 2026.

Bellevue Mayor Lynne Robinson praised the partnership with Amazon, highlighting the company’s role in tackling the city’s urgent housing needs. “Amazon is a courageous and dedicated partner who understands our pressing needs and helps create innovative solutions,” Robinson said. “We are grateful for the trust and collaboration that makes investments like this possible, ensuring critical housing for decades to come.”

This latest commitment builds on Amazon’s continued efforts to support housing, education, and community welfare in the Puget Sound region. As Bellevue expands, investments like these play a crucial role in maintaining affordability and fostering inclusive growth.
