Seattle Times posted an article on Monday titled, “With new diversity, Bellevue defies its “Blah-vue” image.” The article describes how according to the well-respected “diversity index” Bellevue’s neighborhoods are more racially diverse than Seattle’s. In total Bellevue has a diversity index of 58 while Seattle’s is 54. The diversity index indicates the probability that any two people selected at random from the same place would be of a different race.

Below are a few interesting points to note from the article:

  • Bellevue’s growth in diversity is mainly due to the quickly growing Asian population, which is now almost 30% of the total.
  • West Lake Hills and Crossroads are the most diverse neighborhoods in Bellevue with a diversity index of 74.
  • West Bellevue is the least diverse neighborhood in Bellevue with a diversity index of 30
