The Donut Lab Seattle is hosting a pop-up shop at Cafe Aloe on Saturday, November 30th. The event will be taking place from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

The Donut shop specializes in malasadas, a Portuguese confection that is a fried doughnut made with small balls of yeast dough and coated with granulated sugar. Traditional malasadas do not have holes or filling, however, some versions of the doughnut do, like the ones made in Hawaii. The Donut Lab wanted to bring back a taste of their favorite Hawaiian bakeries to share with those craving the delicacy.

They will be featuring flavors like Ube, Pumpkin Spice, Cereal Milk Fruity Pebbles and more. Their menu contains other flavors like guava, lychee, vanilla custard, nutella, s’more and cinnamon sugar. Each doughnut has a chewy and fluffy center in combination with a crisp and sugary crust. One flavor per dozen costs $30 and two flavors per dozen costs $35. If interested, orders can be placed in advance.

Cafe Aloe recently opened on the first floor of Cerasa Apartments on Northeast 2nd. They are a family-owned shop, specializing in coffee and Asian pastries.
