Bellevue Rent Drops to Third Highest in Washington, Increases by 2%

Rental platform, Zumper, recently published their findings for January 2022. When researching active listings across 12 metro cities, Bellevue ranked 3rd for most expensive rent.

The report analyzes the most and least expensive cities and cities with the fastest growing rents. The Washington one-bedroom median rent was $1,470 in January.

Although Bellevue rent grew 2%, the city’s ranking dropped to third, from second place in December. The median rent for a one-bedroom apartment was $2,090. Coming in first was Kirkland, with the median rent at $2,400 for a one-bedroom, and Redmond in second place with a one-bedroom costing $2,120 on average.

Least expensive rents were in Oak Harbor, Olympia, and Lakewood.

The fastest growing rent by month was Everett, which grew by 5.3%, Redmond, and Bellingham. By year, the fastest growing cities are Kirkland, with rent growing at a rate of 29.7%, Redmond, and Seattle & Lakewood were tied for third, both jumping 15.3%.

The Zumper Seattle Metro Area Report analyzed active listings that hit the market last month. Listings are aggregated by city to calculate median asking rents.
