Bellevue Police Officers successfully reunited a Seattle couple with their stolen mountain bikes after an investigation over the weekend. The incident unfolded this past Saturday when Bellevue Police received a distress call from a Seattle couple who had fallen victim to a bike theft.

The victims, temporarily residing in a Seattle apartment while their home underwent remodeling, were left in shock as they discovered their three high-end mountain bikes, collectively valued at over $10,000, had been stolen overnight from a bike rack outside their apartment building.

The suspect had brazenly cut through the metal bike rack to access the bicycles, demonstrating a boldness that Bellevue Police would soon find to be their undoing.

The victims stumbled upon a listing for their stolen bikes on Facebook Marketplace the very next day. Recognizing their bikes by custom parts and unique stickers, the victims knew they had to act swiftly to reclaim their property.

Their first course of action was contacting the Bellevue Police, as the bikes were listed for sale within Bellevue city limits. The online ad not only featured pictures of the stolen bikes but also included images of the suspect himself, caught in the act with the pilfered bicycles.

Enter the Bellevue Police Sergeant who received the report. Recognizing the location and the stolen bike from the Facebook photos, he was determined to crack the case. He wasted no time and headed to the parking lot where the suspect’s photos had been taken.

On that Sunday, the diligent officer located the suspect’s vehicle in the parking lot, being driven by an associate of the main suspect. This small breakthrough led to a critical piece of information – the suspect’s current address in Kirkland.

That afternoon, the Sergeant, along with fellow officers, descended upon the suspect’s Kirkland residence. They found two of the stolen bikes, which were promptly seized and returned to the owners.

In a statement, the victims expressed their deep gratitude for the outstanding service and attention given to their case by the Bellevue Police.
