Ondina, the first multifamily development from Vulcan Real Estate on the Eastside, is now open. The 249-unit residential property, designed by Runberg Architecture Group, is located directly across from the new BelRed/130th East Link Light Rail station in Bellevue.
The development is a transit-oriented project, providing residents with easy access to key areas in Bellevue and Redmond, including educational institutions, employment centers, recreational opportunities, and community spaces.
According to Ada Healey, Chief Real Estate Officer at Vulcan Real Estate, “Bellevue is catching its second wind, with major tech companies settling in, adding job opportunities and the Eastside Link extension connecting Bellevue and Redmond. Ondina’s opening will help meet the demand for housing in Bellevue.”
The eight-story development draws inspiration from nature, with a design based on Blue Mind Theory—the concept that being near water can improve mental health and well-being. The name “Ondina,” meaning “little wave” in Latin, reflects the calming influence of water. This theme is woven throughout the property, from its hallways and lobbies to its amenities.
Ondina offers a variety of amenities, including a fitness facility, co-working spaces, and a butterfly garden. The rooftop features a lounge area, patio, firepits, and BBQs.
In addition to market-rate apartments, Ondina includes 50 units of affordable housing, available to households earning 80% or less of the Area Median Income (AMI). These affordable units are part of the Bellevue Multifamily Tax Exemption program.
Ondina joins other Vulcan Real Estate projects in the Eastside, such as 555 Tower and West Main in Downtown Bellevue, both of which have been leased to Amazon.
The West Main development is also home to new restaurants, including Artly Coffee and Shoo Long Kan, which will contribute to the growing dining scene in Bellevue. Additionally, nearby Peruvian restaurant La Mar and self-pour taproom Tapster have recently opened, further enhancing the area’s appeal.
