A new development is planned for the site at 205 105th Avenue Northeast in Bellevue, where the Sushi Maru restaurant once stood. Su Development, a vertically integrated design-build firm, has applied for a permit to construct a 25-story apartment tower on the location.
The proposed tower will include 170 residential units, with a mix of market-rate and affordable housing. Up to 20% of the units will be designated as affordable. The development will also feature 150 parking stalls and more than 10,000 square feet of retail and restaurant space.
The property was purchased by a Bellevue-based private investor associated with Royal 205 LLC in the summer of 2021 for $14.6 million, according to King County records. Before this, Bosa Development owned the site and had planned a 21-story tower called “Zeyda,” which included 77 residential units, five of which were designated as affordable housing. The original plans also included retail and lobby spaces. Bosa Development had purchased the lot in 2018 for $11 million.
The site is located across from Bosa’s luxury condominium project, One88, which features 21 stories of high-end residential units. One88 includes retail spaces, such as Semicolon Cafe, a popular breakfast spot; Takai by Kashiba, a Japanese fine dining restaurant; and Sevid Beauty, an organic beauty spa.
Sushi Maru, the former occupant of the site, closed in July 2018 after operating for nine years. The restaurant was known for its conveyor belt sushi.
