Barnes & Noble has officially opened its doors at Bellevue Square. The new store, located at 1140 Bellevue Square on the first floor, occupies the former Z Gallerie space, next to Gap and Foot Locker and directly below Zara.
The opening marks the return of Barnes & Noble to Bellevue after the closure of its long-standing Downtown Bellevue location in 2022. That store, which had been a community fixture for 29 years, was shuttered to make way for a redevelopment project by Onni Group, a Canadian developer, which purchased the property for $116 million. Following the closure, Barnes & Noble briefly operated out of Crossroads Mall.
The Bellevue Square store offers a fresh take on the classic Barnes & Noble experience. Designed to cater to local readers, the store features a selection of books across all genres, along with a curated collection of games, puzzles, and gifts.
The location also includes a welcoming area for customers to explore new releases and seasonal titles, just in time for January’s publishing schedule, including the release of Rebecca Yarros’ Onyx Storm on January 21.
“We are thrilled to be back in Bellevue,” said David Rossiter, store manager and a Barnes & Noble bookseller for 20 years. “This community has always had a deep appreciation for books, and we’re excited to reconnect with readers in this vibrant new space.”
The Bellevue Square store is part of Barnes & Noble’s ongoing expansion. The retailer has opened over 50 new stores in the past year, with plans for more than 60 additional locations in 2025.
