Eddie Bauer Bellevue Square

After more than four decades at Bellevue Square, Eddie Bauer will close its doors for good on Tuesday, June 17, 2025. The store is located on the first floor of the mall, across from Anthropologie and next to Sweet Factory.

According to a company representative, the decision is part of a broader evaluation of Eddie Bauer’s real estate portfolio, citing factors such as expiring lease agreements and shifting market conditions. “While it is never an easy decision to close a location, we appreciate the relationships we have established with our customers,” the spokesperson said.

The closure marks the end of a long retail presence in the shopping center. Eddie Bauer originally opened at Bellevue Square in 1984. In July 2010, the brand unveiled a new flagship store in the mall, designed to evoke the company’s outdoor heritage.

The location featured distinctive decor, including upside-down canoes suspended from the ceiling, vintage-styled wardrobes, and a hunter green seating area adorned with historical photos. It also showcased the brand’s technical gear line, First Ascent, and hosted a grand opening event with mountaineers Jim Whittaker and Ed Viesturs.

In November 2016, Eddie Bauer temporarily relocated across the hallway next to Cinnabon to make way for Aritzia, which moved into the former Eddie Bauer space and expanded its boutique footprint.

Despite the closure, Eddie Bauer continues to operate 232 stores nationwide, including six in the Seattle area. The brand also maintains a presence online at eddiebauer.com and through select retail partners.
