The intersection of 108th Avenue Northeast and Northeast 6th Street will be closed from 10pm Friday, September 8th, to 5am Monday, September 11th. The Bellevue Transit Center will be closed during the closure. A temporary bus stop will be setup on 106th Avenue Northeast Northeast 6th Street.

The project includes construction of new raised intersections in Downtown Bellevue. It aims to improve safety and accessibility to the transit center for both pedestrians and buses. The seamless street crossing for people walking and rolling between the East Link light rail station and the Bellevue Transit Center.

Construction occurred during the summer month of August on the 108th Ave NE intersection, as well as the intersection at 110th Avenue Northeast and Northeast 6th Street.

The Bellevue Transportation Department plans to replace existing sidewalks, replace existing traffic signal system, and replace the water main under 110th Ave NE at NE 6th Street.

The raised intersections are located along the future Grand Connection. The purpose of the Grand Connection is to create a non-motorized connection from Meydenbauer Bay Park, across I-405 and into the Wilburton Commercial Area, which connects to the Eastside Rail Corridor.

A new art structure at Bellevue Downtown Park was unveiled in June 2023 as a part of the Grand Connection. It is located at the corner of Northeast Fourth Street and Bellevue Way. Piloti resides at the Gateway Plaza. It is up to 23′ high and includes 6,665 individual pieces and 180,000 rivets. It was created by Marc Fornes/THEVERYMANY.
